Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, has called for the immediate execution of vandals caught stealing and damaging materials on federal highways.<\/p>\n
Onanuga spoke on Sunday in response to a video shared on X by user, Salanwu Omoiyaonipako, which showed vandals cutting starter bars and shoulder rods at the reconstruction site of the Ibadan-Ilesa\/Ife Federal Highway.<\/p>\n
According to Omoiyaonipako, despite the government\u2019s efforts to deliver quality roads for Nigerians, vandals continue to destroy public infrastructure. He wrote: \u201cUpdate on the reconstruction of the Ibadan-Ilesa\/Ife Federal Highway.<\/p>\n
\u201cVandals are at it again! They\u2019re cutting and removing starter bars\/shoulder rods at the construction site.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is pure wickedness. The government is helping us build good roads, but some Nigerians are vandalising them. I\u2019m tired!\u201d<\/p>\n
Reacting to the video, Onanuga described the vandals as \u201cunconscionable\u201d and \u201cthe worst species of citizenship\u201d.<\/p>\n
He added in a quoted response: \u201cJust shoot these unconscionable vandals\/thieves at sight. They are the worst species of citizens.\u201d<\/p>\n
Vandalism of government property on highways is not limited to road construction.<\/p>\n
Vandals have also been implicated in stealing and destroying oil pipelines, railway tracks, and electricity cables and poles, often causing service disruptions and, in some cases, fatalities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
