Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Operatives of the Edo Security Corps, ESSC, have arrested two suspects allegedly specialised in snatching of motorcycles for suspected kidnappers in the state.<\/p>\n

The suspects, identified as Yusuf and Zubairu, were arrested by the Security Corps\u2019 operatives in the forest in Uromi, Esan North East Local Government area of the state.<\/p>\n

The Deputy Commander of the Security Corps, Richard Balogun, disclosed this to newsmen on Tuesday in Benin City.<\/p>\n

Balogun alleged that the suspects are members of syndicates that specialise in stealing of motorcycles in the Edo Central senatorial district and sending them to the kidnappers in the forest.<\/p>\n

He said that after receiving the motorcycles the suspected kidnappers use them as a means of transport to come to the town to buy food and also collect ransom from the victims\u2019 families.<\/p>\n

The ESSC, Deputy Commander, Operations who said security operatives have been on the trail of the suspects, added that they were however, arrested due to a tip-off.<\/p>\n

He said before the arrest, the suspects had already stolen over eight motorcycles for suspected kidnappers in the locality.<\/p>\n

He added that luck ran out on the suspects and they were arrested before they could convey another four stolen motorcycles in one day to the suspected kidnappers in the forest.<\/p>\n

Balogun disclosed that the suspects have since been handed over to the police for further investigation and necessary action<\/p>\n

He also disclosed that the Security Corps have commenced intensive foot and motorised patrols in the Edo Central senatorial districts.<\/p>\n
