Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has announced that the FCT Administration will commemorate the territory\u2019s 50th anniversary alongside the third anniversary of President Bola Tinubu\u2019s administration.<\/p>\n

Wike made the disclosure in Abuja while addressing staff of the FCT Administration on plans to mark the FCT\u2019s golden jubilee.<\/p>\n

According to him, a committee will soon be constituted to coordinate programmes for both the FCT\u2019s 50th anniversary and Tinubu\u2019s third year in office.<\/p>\n

The minister expressed gratitude that the FCT attained the milestone during his tenure, adding that a special compendium to mark the golden jubilee would be unveiled during the celebration scheduled for about three months\u2019 time.<\/p>\n

Reflecting on infrastructural development in the territory, Wike attributed recent progress to policy decisions taken under the Tinubu administration.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery time we say, for years, no infrastructure. Why would there be infrastructure when there\u2019s something restraining you, but removing FCT from TSA allows the administration to access funding from commercial banks.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday, everybody is saying there\u2019s massive infrastructural development. If that was not made possible, we would still be hanging around; we would still be saying nothing is going on.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, we must appreciate somebody who has laid the foundation for us to get to where we are,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Wike also noted that beyond physical development, workers within the FCT Administration had benefited significantly, particularly in terms of career advancement to top civil service positions.<\/p>\n

\u201cMinisters have come and gone; presidents have come and gone but no one made this possible except Tinubu.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday, every worker is happy that there\u2019s hope that they can be a permanent secretary. There\u2019s hope they can be a head of service.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is not easy to achieve but somebody made it possible,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
