{"id":194009,"date":"2026-02-08T12:05:57","date_gmt":"2026-02-08T11:05:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/why-cac-deleted-400000-nigerian-companies-registrar"},"modified":"2026-02-08T13:14:13","modified_gmt":"2026-02-08T12:14:13","slug":"why-cac-deleted-400000-nigerian-companies-registrar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/why-cac-deleted-400000-nigerian-companies-registrar","title":{"rendered":"Why CAC deleted 400,000 Nigerian companies \u2013 Registrar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Registrar-General of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Hussaini Magaji, has explained the reasons behind the removal of more than 400,000 companies from the commission\u2019s register in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Magaji, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday at an event in Abuja, said the exercise was carried out to tidy up the CAC database and protect the credibility of Nigeria\u2019s official companies register.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the affected firms were inactive or failed to comply with statutory requirements, prompting the commission to deregister them in order to maintain accurate and reliable records.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that the cleanup aligns with CAC\u2019s broader reforms, including its shift from a manual, location-based registry to a fully digital system that provides end-to-end corporate services.<\/p>\n<p>Magaji explained that the commission now operates as an online service provider, enabling Nigerians within and outside the country to register businesses remotely at any time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCAC now offers services anywhere and at any time, 24 hours a day.
