Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi has said sustained investment in the education sector is producing measurable and positive results, particularly at the basic education level.<\/p>\n

This was contained in a press statement signed by the governor\u2019s chief press secretary, Hamisu Muhammad Gumel, and issued to newsmen.<\/p>\n

It said the governor stated this while presiding over a Basic Education Stakeholders\u2019 Roundtable Meeting at the Government House, Dutse, on Sunday.<\/p>\n

The meeting was convened to assess progress, challenges and opportunities within the sub-sector.<\/p>\n

According to him, \u201cWhat we have seen today shows that our investment in education is producing results. The contributions of donor agencies and development partners, alongside government efforts, are becoming very clear and evident across the state,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The governor commended development partners for their commitment to improving learning outcomes and assured them of the state government\u2019s continued collaboration and support.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a government, we will continue to work with you and ensure a conducive environment that enables you to operate effectively,\u201d Namadi added.<\/p>\n

He further pledged that the government would review recommendations made at the meeting and incorporate viable ones into the state\u2019s education planning and policy framework.<\/p>\n

In his remarks, the Commissioner for Basic Education, Dr. Lawal Yunusa Danzomo, said the stakeholders\u2019 meeting brought together all departments and institutions involved in education data management and service delivery.<\/p>\n

He stressed that addressing challenges in the education sector requires collective effort, noting that the shared objective is to ensure that every child in Jigawa State enrols in school, remains in school, successfully transitions through all levels and completes their education.<\/p>\n

According to him, recent assessments indicate improvements in access to education, pupil retention, transition and completion rates, as well as progress in teacher recruitment, deployment, training, attendance and performance.<\/p>\n

Dr. Danzomo attributed the achievements to the political will of Governor Namadi, the enabling environment created by his administration and the inclusive approach that allows stakeholders to contribute meaningfully to the sector.<\/p>\n

Development partners and NGOs present at the meeting included PLANE, AGILE, UNICEF, the Islamic Development Bank and Save the Children.<\/p>\n
