{"id":194311,"date":"2026-02-10T09:58:33","date_gmt":"2026-02-10T08:58:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/road-fatalities-increased-from-78-to-115-in-2025-yobe-frcs"},"modified":"2026-02-10T11:13:16","modified_gmt":"2026-02-10T10:13:16","slug":"road-fatalities-increased-from-78-to-115-in-2025-yobe-frcs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/all-news\/road-fatalities-increased-from-78-to-115-in-2025-yobe-frcs","title":{"rendered":"Road fatalities increased from 78 to 115 in 2025 \u2013 Yobe FRCS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Yobe State Sector Command has disclosed that a total of 13,538 traffic offenders were arrested and sanctioned by its operatives in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The sector\u2019s commander, Andrew Longkam, made the disclosure in a press briefing on Monday on the successes and challenges recorded in the preceding year.<\/p>\n<p>According to him. over-speeding, tyre violations, dangerous driving, overloading, and route violations, remained the major cause of avoidable crashes in the state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe number of persons involved in crashes increased to 1,664, while encouragingly, those rescued without injury rose from 604 to 623.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHowever, fatalities increased from 78 to 115, while injuries rose from 867 to 926\u201d, he revealed.<\/p>\n<p>Longkam said 2025 outcome will spur renewed strategies in line with the Corps\u2019 2026 Corporate Strategic Goal of reducing road traffic crashes by 10 per cent nationwide through data driven interventions.<\/p>\n<p>He added that some of the measures planned by the command include: intensified enforcement, expanded driver training and increased public enlightenment.<\/p>\n<p>Others are: strict enforcement of speed limiting devices, stronger collaboration with emergency services and the state Ministry of Works among other relevant agencies.<\/p>\n<p>The sector commander stressed that road safety is a shared responsibility and urged all road users to obey traffic regulations and drive responsibly.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Nigeria<\/span> Follow <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Africa-Press<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
