{"id":194749,"date":"2026-02-13T11:59:22","date_gmt":"2026-02-13T10:59:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/aap-challenges-inec-for-ctc-of-ndc-registration-judgment"},"modified":"2026-02-13T13:10:40","modified_gmt":"2026-02-13T12:10:40","slug":"aap-challenges-inec-for-ctc-of-ndc-registration-judgment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/aap-challenges-inec-for-ctc-of-ndc-registration-judgment","title":{"rendered":"AAP Challenges INEC for CTC of NDC Registration Judgment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The African Alliance Party, AAP has asked the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to provide the Certified True Copy, CTC, of the court ruling that mandated it to register Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, as a political party.<\/p>\n<p>AAP said it was still in shock over INEC\u2019s refusal to register it alongside the two political parties announced last week.<\/p>\n<p>The AAP said that its investigation at the Federal High Court in Lokoja, Kogi State showed that there is no CTC of the purported court judgement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis judicial abracadabra which INEC brandished in registering NDC which was not listed as one of the political associations that applied to be registered as a political party in all the commission\u2019s official social media platforms as well as in its various press statements as at Thursday, 5th February, 2026 it infamously registered it, is an assault on the nation\u2019s democracy, questions the integrity and credibility of INEC Chairman,\u201d a statement signed by Alh. Abubakar Sadiq, National Publicity Secretary, AAP, said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe recent attempt to smuggle in NDC on INEC\u2019s website to cover up its recklessness in registering NDC has further exposed the commission\u2019s desperation and culpability, and brought it to global ridicule and disrepute.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis administrative mess would have been avoided if Amupitan-led INEC cared about its reputation or even understands its statutory duties. It is evident that Prof Amupitan merely played out a poor script written by anti-democratic forces bent on stopping the registration of the African Alliance Party.<\/p>\n<p>AAP challenged INEC to release the court order it claimed it received to register NDC.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no valid court order to present. INEC without any provocation decided to fool Nigerians as it has no reason to register NDC in place of AAP,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet it be clear that African Alliance Party will follow up this glaring INEC impunity in the interest of justice, equity, fair play and sustainable democracy in Nigeria. INEC is obliged by law to act in the interest of the nation and not in the interest of a cabal, and uphold democratic values, ideals, ethics and ethos.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo shortchange a qualified political association for registration as a political party in place of a mysterious political association unknown to the commission and citizens is justice juxtaposed. It shall not stand. The rule of law will always prevail over the rule of might that breeds political upheavals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cINEC has the chance and opportunity to review its position on the registration of the African Alliance Party, and do the right thing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf NDC could be speedily registered under questionable circumstance, African Alliance Party that met all requirements for registration as a political party should be registered immediately. We so demand.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cINEC competence and neutrality are critical in rebuilding trust in the electoral process.
