Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, has commenced the tracking of over 25 capital projects worth N2.2 billion across 13 local government areas of Ebonyi State.<\/p>\n

Upon arrival in Ebonyi State, the tracking team visited some project sites in Ebonyi, Ohaukwu, Ezza North and Ishielu local government areas.<\/p>\n

The team inspected a new laboratory at Ebonyi State College of Health Sciences, Ezzamgbo, facilitated by the lawmaker representing Ebonyi\/Ohaukwu Federal Constituency. The project was built and equipped by the Centre for Management Development.<\/p>\n

It also tracked streetlight projects facilitated by Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi in Ebonyi North Senatorial Zone.<\/p>\n

Other projects inspected include empowerment programmes involving the distribution of various items facilitated by Senator Ken Eze across local government areas in Ebonyi Central.<\/p>\n

Additional projects include streetlight installations in Amagu, Ezza South Local Government Area, and feeder roads in some farm settlements in Ezza South LGA, all facilitated by Eze.<\/p>\n

ICPC said the aim of the exercise is to ensure the satisfactory completion and proper utilisation of projects for which funds were appropriated.<\/p>\n

It noted that where discrepancies or infractions are observed in the execution of any project during the tracking exercise, the contractor would be directed to return to site.<\/p>\n

The Commission further stated that it may recommend the recovery of funds paid for any contract found to have been improperly executed.<\/p>\n

The tracking team comprises members of the ICPC, the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, civil society organisations and the media.<\/p>\n
