Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Amnesty International has condemned the deadly attack on Dutsin Dan Hajiya village in Zamfara State, describing it as one of the worst incidents in a state that has suffered years of violent assaults.<\/p>\n

In a statement shared on its X handle on Monday, the organisation said more dead bodies were still being discovered days after the Thursday night attack, while families continued searching for loved ones who remain missing.<\/p>\n

It added that many of those injured in the assault are currently receiving treatment at Anka General Hospital.<\/p>\n

Amnesty International said the attack highlights the worsening security crisis in Zamfara, which has witnessed repeated violent incidents since 2012, particularly in rural communities.<\/p>\n

According to the organisation, previous military operations in the state have not succeeded in ending the killings.<\/p>\n

\u201cPrevious military interventions have failed to end the killings in the rural areas of Zamfara. The Nigerian authorities have repeatedly claimed to be tackling the situation, but the mounting death toll tells a different story,\u201d the group wrote.<\/p>\n

Amnesty International noted that residents of affected communities have been living in constant fear.<\/p>\n

\u201cVillagers have been describing feeling helpless and on the edge, constantly bracing themselves for attacks,\u201d the organisation said.<\/p>\n

It called for urgent action to stop the violence and ensure accountability.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese killings must end immediately, and those suspected of criminal responsibility must be brought to justice,\u201d Amnesty International stated.<\/p>\n

Recall that bandits reportedly killed at least 50 residents of Dutsin Dan Ajiya village in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Thursday night.<\/p>\n
