Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike has declared during his visit to Edo State, that elections are won through performance and not \u201cstreet drama.\u201d<\/p>\n

He stated this in Benin during the hand over of 54 construction equipment to the 18 LGAs in the state.<\/p>\n

According to him, Nigerians must be cautious of what he described as \u201cemergency democrats\u201d who suddenly attempt to identify with ordinary citizens during election season.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet me say this clearly, winning an election is not by dancing. It is not by buying corn on the road,\u201d Wike said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWinning an election is to show the people what you have done and the foundation you have laid.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wike criticized politicians who, according to him, engage in public displays to win the sympathy of Nigerians.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen they were in office, they hardly came out to talk about buying corn on the road to chew. Something you have never done since you were born, simply because you want to deceive the people to say you are one of the people,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The FCT Minister praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu\u2019s administration.<\/p>\n

\u201cMr President is busy developing the FCT. That is performance. That is what people should look at,\u201d Wike stated.<\/p>\n

He further said that as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he would not dispute the presidential election outcome, citing what he described as tangible achievements.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a PDP holder, I will not challenge the result because I know what Mr President has done in the FCT,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
