{"id":196015,"date":"2026-02-23T23:29:57","date_gmt":"2026-02-23T22:29:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/zamfara-rep-alleges-pdp-infiltration-of-apc-congresses"},"modified":"2026-02-24T00:38:51","modified_gmt":"2026-02-23T23:38:51","slug":"zamfara-rep-alleges-pdp-infiltration-of-apc-congresses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/parties\/zamfara-rep-alleges-pdp-infiltration-of-apc-congresses","title":{"rendered":"Zamfara Rep Alleges PDP Infiltration of APC Congresses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Rep Aminu Jaji (APC\u2013Zamfara) has called on the National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to cancel the just-concluded ward and LGA congresses of the party in Zamfara over alleged irregularities.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that the APC National Secretariat committee for the party congresses in Zamfara on Sunday announced the conclusion of the peaceful ward and local government congresses across the 147 wards and 14 LGAs in the state.<\/p>\n<p>The committee said the exercise was conducted successfully without any irregularities.<\/p>\n<p>But Jaji, who represents Kaura-Namoda\/Birnin-Magaji Federal Constituency, at a press briefing in Gusau on Monday described the ward and LGA congresses in the state as null and void over alleged irregularities.<\/p>\n<p>Jaji alleged that the committee sent from the APC national headquarters conspired with some members and other elements and abused the dignity of APC members in the state during the just-concluded \u201ckangaroo\u201d ward and LGA congresses.<\/p>\n<p>He further alleged that some participants in the congresses were members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other opposition parties, undermining the party\u2019s guidelines.<\/p>\n<p>He added, \u201cSome members were denied equal opportunity to participate in the party\u2019s congresses at ward and local government levels, in spite of paying for the nomination and expression of interest forms via party-designated accounts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMembers approached the state Organising Secretary to obtain the forms but were denied.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe state Organising Secretary pursued their complaints, but the National Secretariat of the party has not responded.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are much concerned about the reported kangaroo congresses held without APC members\u2019 participation, contradicting our party constitution,\u201d Jaji insisted.<\/p>\n<p>Jaji continued, \u201cWe call on the National Chairman to address and cancel the kangaroo congresses of the party in the state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are also appealing to the National Working Committee of the party to dissolve the state working committee for inclusivity and fairness.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are expecting the National Secretariat to announce a new date for a free and fair congress in Zamfara.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe appeal to the Minister of State for Defence and immediate past governor of Zamfara, Bello Matawalle, as party leader in the state, to intervene and save the party.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe also urge the committee constituted by the President to reconcile APC members to intervene and resolve the lingering crisis in the state to avert a repeat of the 2019 incidents.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Nigeria<\/span> Follow <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Africa-Press<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
