{"id":196119,"date":"2026-02-24T22:12:16","date_gmt":"2026-02-24T21:12:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/police-confirm-attack-on-adc-secretariat-in-edo"},"modified":"2026-02-24T23:19:27","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T22:19:27","slug":"police-confirm-attack-on-adc-secretariat-in-edo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/police-confirm-attack-on-adc-secretariat-in-edo","title":{"rendered":"Police Confirm Attack on ADC Secretariat in Edo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Edo State Police Command has confirmed the attack on the State Secretariat of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, by suspected political hoodlums in the state.<\/p>\n<p>The Command confirmed the incident in a statement signed by its spokesperson, ASP Eno Ikoedem.<\/p>\n<p>Ikoedem said the incident happened at about 2:55 pm shortly after a political gathering held at the secretariat.<\/p>\n<p>According to her, \u201cOn 24 February 2026 at about 2:55 p.m., a political gathering was held at the ADC State Secretariat located on Ogbelaka Street, off Sapele Road, Benin City, to welcome new members who defected from the Labour Party.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dShortly after the event concluded, a group of suspected hoodlums disrupted the premises and chased attendees away.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPolice patrol teams responded promptly to the distress call, upon which the suspects fled the scene.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201dSome plastic chairs and canopies were damaged during the incident. No casualties were reported.
