In a move aimed at fostering peace and strengthening unity within the Christian community, governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has approved the constitution of a Reconciliation and Unity Committee between the United Methodist Church of Nigeria, UMCN, and the Global Methodist Church, GMC.<\/p>\n
The committee, comprising prominent religious leaders and security representatives, is tasked with promoting reconciliation and encouraging a mutually beneficial relationship between the two church bodies.<\/p>\n
According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Secretary to the Government of the State, Chief Barrister Gebon Timothy Kataps, the committee reflects the state government\u2019s commitment to peaceful coexistence and religious harmony.<\/p>\n
Rev. Isaiah Magaji Jirape has been appointed as Chairman of the committee. Other members include Bishop Foreman Nedison, Bishop Innocent Solomon, Rev. Aliyuda Iro Moses, and Rev. Andemun R. Musa.<\/p>\n
Security agencies are also represented on the committee, including a representative of the Police, the Department of State Services, DSS, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC. Additionally, a representative of the State Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Chairman will serve as Member\/Secretary.<\/p>\n
The state government expressed confidence that the committee will work diligently to bridge differences, restore trust, and promote lasting unity between the United Methodist Church of Nigeria and the Global Methodist Church.<\/p>\n
