Kwara State Police Command has apprehended a 15-year-old boy, identified as Gobri Yusuf, for allegedly killing his guardian, simply identified as Akanbi, who reportedly adopted and raised him in Ilorin, the state capital.<\/p>\n
Yusuf is alleged to have attacked the woman with household items after an earlier attempt to poison her failed.<\/p>\n
The development was disclosed on Friday by the state Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, during a press briefing at the command headquarters in Ilorin.<\/p>\n
Ojo explained that the suspect was arrested after the police received a distress call reporting the discovery of Akanbi lying in a pool of blood inside her residence.<\/p>\n
According to the police chief, preliminary investigations revealed that the teenager, who lived with the deceased, allegedly carried out the assault while the woman was bathing.<\/p>\n
He said findings indicated that the suspect hid behind a door before launching the attack using various household objects.<\/p>\n
The police recovered several items from the suspect, including a frying pan, a weighing scale, a kitchen spatula, and knives believed to have been used in the assault.<\/p>\n
Ojo further stated that the suspect reportedly admitted to committing the act during interrogation, claiming that resentment toward the deceased motivated the attack.<\/p>\n
The commissioner added that after the incident, the teenager allegedly changed his clothes and left the house under the guise of running an errand.<\/p>\n
He was said to have later contacted the deceased\u2019s husband, who eventually returned home and found his wife lifeless.<\/p>\n
