Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Oyo State Police Command has disclosed that it has arrested several suspects in connection with alleged murder, armed robberies, and cattle rustling.<\/p>\n

The command, in separate statements signed by its Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, noted that the suspects were arrested in different locations across the state.<\/p>\n

The statements were made available on Monday.<\/p>\n

Ayanlade, in the first statement, explained that one suspect was arrested in connection with an alleged murder at Asalu community in Lagelu Local Government Area, Ibadan.<\/p>\n

He added that efforts are ongoing to arrest other suspects involved in the case.<\/p>\n

Ayanlade said, \u201cThe Oyo State Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with a criminal altercation that resulted in the death of an individual in Asalu Community, Lalupon, Ibadan, as part of the command\u2019s proactive measures to maintain law and order and protect lives within the state.<\/p>\n

\u201cUpon receipt of the report, a team of police operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer, Supol Iyana-Offa, promptly proceeded to the scene and the hospital. Photographs were taken for documentation purposes, and one suspect, Giwa Sodiq, was arrested in connection with the incident. The corpse of the deceased has been deposited at Adeo State Hospital Morgue, Ring Road, Ibadan, for preservation and autopsy. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing suspects to ensure full prosecution.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ayanlade, in another statement, explained that one suspect was also arrested in connection with an armed robbery in Ogbomoso.<\/p>\n

He added that the suspect was apprehended along the Ogbomoso\/Ilorin Expressway.<\/p>\n

He said that the armed robbers blocked the road and robbed some innocent citizens in the process.<\/p>\n

Ayanlade maintained that a suspect was arrested, adding that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the other suspects.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe robbers forcibly dispossessed the tanker driver and his motor boys of their belongings. A gun duel ensued between the fleeing hoodlums and the police patrol team, during which one of the suspects, later identified as Dere Yahaya, aged 32, was apprehended. Other members of the gang escaped into the bush, sustaining bullet wounds.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ayanlade, in another statement, explained that four suspects were arrested in connection with cattle rustling.<\/p>\n

He also disclosed that some cattle had been recovered.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn arrival at the scene, it was discovered that the suspects had already loaded two cows into a white Mazda bus with registration number KMA 178 ZY and were in the process of loading three other cows when the police patrol team closed in on them. Sighting the approaching operatives, the hoodlums abandoned the vehicle loaded with the stolen cows and fled into the bush. At the scene, the joint team found two cattle herders, namely Ibrahim Musa and Ibrahim Umaru, who had been tied together by the fleeing suspects.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe police and vigilante team immediately commenced intensive bush combing and a coordinated manhunt for the fleeing criminals. This led to the arrest of Sekooni Wale, aged 30, the driver of the Mazda bus, and Jimoh Toheeb, aged 25, the motor boy.<\/p>\n

\u201cFurther investigation was subsequently extended to Maya Town in the Lanlate area, where the principal suspect, Moshood Abdullahi, aged 38, was apprehended. The suspect, who reportedly came from Badagry, was also identified as a notorious cattle rustler. His arrest further led to the apprehension of another accomplice, Macho Sindi, aged 29.\u201d<\/p>\n
