{"id":197024,"date":"2026-03-18T19:59:29","date_gmt":"2026-03-18T18:59:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/wike-urges-residents-to-pray-for-tinubu-during-ramadan"},"modified":"2026-03-18T21:01:25","modified_gmt":"2026-03-18T20:01:25","slug":"wike-urges-residents-to-pray-for-tinubu-during-ramadan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/wike-urges-residents-to-pray-for-tinubu-during-ramadan","title":{"rendered":"Wike Urges Residents to Pray for Tinubu During Ramadan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has assured residents of Abuja that President Bola Tinubu will ensure the completion of road projects, especially in the satellite towns so as to ensure better living conditions for the people.<\/p>\n<p>He urged the residents to continue to support the President and pray for him.<\/p>\n<p>The minister, who was addressing some residents of villages along the road linking Bwari with Kubwa, who came out to welcome him during his inspection tour of the road on Wednesday, said the President\u2019s main interest is for the people to be happy.<\/p>\n<p>Wike also declared that it would be very difficult for any opposition to win elections in the FCT against President Tinubu, in 2027.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to journalists in Abuja shortly after ongoing projects inspection across satellite towns, he cited massive infrastructure development and visible impact on residents\u2019 lives.<\/p>\n<p>Wike said the level of transformation under the current administration has won the confidence of the people.<\/p>\n<p>Wike insisted that, \u201cIt is very difficult for anybody to win an election in the FCT against Mr. President,\u201d he said. \u201cBecause to them, it is surprising what they have seen in their lives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The minister attributed the growing support to the administration\u2019s deliberate policy of extending development beyond the city centre to rural and satellite communities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were told clearly that there is over-concentration of development in the city, and we must go to the satellite towns,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese communities are part of Abuja, and their lives must also change\u201d, he stated.<\/p>\n<p>Wike, who expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of ongoing projects, said residents\u2019 reactions across communities visited reflect the positive impact of the government\u2019s interventions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can see the happiness of the people. When the people are happy, you have no choice but to be happy,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He listed several road projects inspected in Karu, Apo \u2013 Kashi and Bwari to Kubwa, including major corridors spanning up to 30 kilometres, noting that many of the affected communities were experiencing such development for the first time.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, \u201cWhen I went to these areas, you could see that people had never witnessed this kind of infrastructure before. Now, economic activities will improve, and their lives will change\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Wike explained that improved road networks would reduce travel time and ease movement between satellite towns and the city centre.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople can now live in places like Kuje and get to work in the city within 25 minutes. That is the kind of impact we are talking about,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He further disclosed that some of the projects would be completed and inaugurated as part of activities marking the President\u2019s upcoming anniversary in office.<\/p>\n<p>On concerns about the activities of real estate developers in the FCT, Wike dismissed calls for the establishment of a new regulatory agency, insisting that existing institutions are sufficient.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe problem in Nigeria is the proliferation of agencies. Creating more agencies will not solve the problem,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the Department of Development Control already has the mandate to regulate physical planning and ensure compliance with the Abuja Master Plan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat is important is to strengthen existing structures. The FCT Administration can handle complaints and ensure that developers do not exploit innocent citizens,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>Wike assured residents that the administration would continue to act on reported cases of malpractice, including ensuring refunds where necessary.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf there are complaints, we know what to do. We will ensure that the right thing is done,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>He also called for unity and continued support for the government, noting that national development requires collective effort.<\/p>\n<p>Wike hinted that, \u201cThis is a period for everyone to work together and support the government.
