Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has outlined a three-point plan to fix Nigeria\u2019s security system.<\/p>\n

The party announced the plan while reacting to the recently released Global Terrorism Index.<\/p>\n

According to the report, terror attacks in Nigeria surged by 43 percent under President Bola Tinubu and the APC, rising from 120 incidents in 2024 to 171 in 2025.<\/p>\n

Borno State accounted for 67 percent of attacks and 72 percent of related deaths, while civilians make up 67 percent of casualties.<\/p>\n

Addressing the situation, ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, in a post via his x handle stated that the party would implement decisive reforms to protect Nigerians.<\/p>\n

According to him, the ADC plans to improve intelligence coordination.<\/p>\n

\u201cNigeria does not lack intelligence; it lacks coordination,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He said the party is proposing a legally mandated national intelligence coordination system led by a Coordinator of National Intelligence and a unified Joint Terrorism Task Force to ensure timely responses and eliminate missed warnings.<\/p>\n

Secondly, according to Abdullahi, the ADC aims to decentralize policing, bringing security closer to communities.<\/p>\n

He explained that the ADC would establish a multi-layered policing structure across federal, state, and local levels, with clear roles and national standards to ensure faster responses and accountability in all 774 local government areas.<\/p>\n

Abdullahi added that ADC intends to shift from reactionary security to preventive measures.<\/p>\n

He said the party\u2019s plan includes intelligence driven early warning systems and rapid response units in every state to stop attacks before they occur.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe ADC\u2019s focus will be to prevent attacks, not just respond after tragedy strikes,\u201d the ADC spokesman said.<\/p>\n
