{"id":197231,"date":"2026-03-20T19:47:55","date_gmt":"2026-03-20T18:47:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/gov-alia-orders-resignation-of-appointees-by-march-30"},"modified":"2026-03-20T20:56:49","modified_gmt":"2026-03-20T19:56:49","slug":"gov-alia-orders-resignation-of-appointees-by-march-30","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/gov-alia-orders-resignation-of-appointees-by-march-30","title":{"rendered":"Gov Alia Orders Resignation of Appointees by March 30"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia of Benue State has ordered all political appointees in his administration who intend to run in the 2027 general elections to resign on or before March 30, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The directive was contained in a statement issued on Friday by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, who said the decision is aimed at maintaining the momentum of development in the state.<\/p>\n<p>According to the statement, the governor stressed that early resignation would ensure a smooth transition and prevent disruptions to governance.<\/p>\n<p>He added that his administration is committed to ongoing projects and will not allow political ambitions to interfere with progress.<\/p>\n<p>Alia also urged residents and stakeholders to support his vision for the growth and transformation of the state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI invite all people of good conscience to join hands with me so that we can make Benue a place that attracts everybody,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The governor highlighted achievements recorded so far, including infrastructure development and improved welfare for civil servants.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you see earthmoving machines working on our hitherto dilapidated roads, that is development. When you see civil servants going to work and closing happily, that is development.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have started, I am midway and I am more determined to do more because that was my covenant with the Benue people. I cannot tender apologies to anyone because I am developing Benue state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy covenant was with the people of Benue State. My attention is on how to make them happy. How to rewrite the story of the state for good.
