Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecast a mix of sunshine, cloud cover, and thunderstorms across the country from Sunday through Tuesday.<\/p>\n

In its weather outlook released in Abuja, the agency predicted predominantly sunny conditions over the northern region throughout the period.<\/p>\n

According to NiMet, \u201csunny skies are expected over the northern region throughout the forecast period.\u201d<\/p>\n

For the North Central zone, the agency said \u201csunny skies with patches of clouds are expected with prospects of isolated thunderstorms with or without rain\u201d over parts of Kogi, Niger, the Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa, and Kwara states.<\/p>\n

Across the southern region, NiMet stated that \u201ccloudy conditions with intervals of sunshine are anticipated,\u201d with \u201cprospects of isolated thunderstorms accompanied by light rain\u201d over Lagos, Ondo, Ogun, Delta, and Cross River states during the morning.<\/p>\n

It added that \u201clater in the day, thunderstorms with moderate rain are expected\u201d across a wide stretch of southern states, including Ekiti, Osun, Edo, Imo, Enugu, Abia, Anambra, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Akwa Ibom.<\/p>\n

Looking ahead to Monday, the agency noted that \u201csunny skies are anticipated over the northern region,\u201d with chances of isolated thunderstorms in parts of southern Taraba.<\/p>\n

For the North Central region, it said there would be \u201csunny skies with patches of clouds,\u201d alongside \u201cchances of thunderstorms accompanied by light rain\u201d in parts of Kogi and Nasarawa in the morning, and \u201cisolated thunderstorms with moderate rain\u201d later in parts of Benue.<\/p>\n

In the South, NiMet maintained that \u201ccloudy conditions with intervals of sunshine are anticipated,\u201d with morning thunderstorms in several states, followed by \u201cthunderstorms with moderate rain\u201d later in the day across a broader area.<\/p>\n

By Tuesday, the agency projected that \u201csunny skies are anticipated over the northern region,\u201d while the North Central zone would see \u201csunny skies with patches of clouds\u201d in the morning and \u201cisolated thunderstorms with light rain\u201d later in parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Plateau, and Niger states.<\/p>\n

In the southern region, NiMet said \u201ccloudy conditions with intervals of sunshine are anticipated,\u201d with morning thunderstorms in coastal states and \u201cthunderstorms with moderate rain\u201d expected later in parts of Ondo, Edo, Imo, Bayelsa, and Delta.<\/p>\n

The agency warned that \u201cstrong winds may precede thunderstorms in areas where they are likely to occur,\u201d urging the public to take precautions.<\/p>\n

It further advised residents to secure loose items, noting that \u201cdriving under heavy rain should be avoided,\u201d and to \u201cstay away from tall trees to avoid impact from falling branches and broken trees.\u201d<\/p>\n

NiMet also cautioned that \u201ctemperatures are expected to remain high, causing thermal discomfort,\u201d advising people to wear breathable clothing, stay hydrated, and remain in well-ventilated environments.<\/p>\n

\u201cAirline operators are advised to obtain airport-specific weather reports flight documentation from NiMet for effective operational planning,\u201d the agency added.<\/p>\n
