Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Nigerian government is planning to scrap the Common Entrance Examination for junior secondary school students.<\/p>\n

Instead, they will introduce a Learner Identification Number.<\/p>\n

This number will help track students throughout their education, starting from primary school up to secondary school.<\/p>\n

This was disclosed by the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, during while speaking with journalists in Lagos.<\/p>\n

Alausa explained that the Common Entrance Exam will be gradually removed and replaced with a better system called Continuous Assessment, or CA.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cThe CA will show how well a student has done from primary one.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven if a student moves schools, they can take their CA with them to the new school.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alausa also said this new system will help fix problems in moving from primary to secondary school, especially since many students don\u2019t move on to the next level.<\/p>\n
