{"id":197893,"date":"2026-03-28T18:11:22","date_gmt":"2026-03-28T17:11:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/bayelsa-apc-youths-demand-pipeline-contract-termination"},"modified":"2026-03-28T19:24:12","modified_gmt":"2026-03-28T18:24:12","slug":"bayelsa-apc-youths-demand-pipeline-contract-termination","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/bayelsa-apc-youths-demand-pipeline-contract-termination","title":{"rendered":"Bayelsa APC Youths Demand Pipeline Contract Termination"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The APC Youth Network in Bayelsa State has called for an immediate forensic probe and termination of the pipeline protection contract over the recent resignation of a former deputy governorship candidate, Joshua MacIver, who reportedly serves as the coordinator of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, TSSNL, in the state.<\/p>\n<p>Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, owned by a former militant leader, Government Ekpemukpulo, alias Tompolo, handles the pipeline protection contract.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement by Comrade Preye Godson, the APC youths alleged that MacIver had benefited immensely from the deal while allegedly showing little loyalty to the party or the nation.<\/p>\n<p>They further alleged that the contract, reportedly valued at approximately $144 million (over \u20a648 billion) annually, has been hijacked by opportunists who care nothing for pipeline security, regional development, or party discipline.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJoshua MacIver did not join the APC because he believed in the vision for a better Nigeria. He did not run as deputy governorship candidate out of genuine love for Bayelsa or the Renewed Hope project. He was there purely for personal gain.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the height of political prostitution and betrayal. MacIver and his likes treat the APC like a temporary vehicle for enrichment,\u201d the statement said, describing the pipeline protection contract as a symbol of cronyism, lacking transparency, and offering questionable value for money.<\/p>\n<p>They noted persistent concerns over illegal bunkering, oil theft, and vulnerabilities in the creeks, arguing that the contract concentrates enormous resources in the hands of a few whose primary allegiance is to profit, not national security.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMacIver perfectly embodies everything wrong with this arrangement. If beneficiaries like him can resign from the APC and still retain their positions of immense financial benefit, then the contract has failed the test of loyalty, accountability, and national interest,\u201d the APC Youth Network added.<\/p>\n<p>They demanding a full forensic audit of the contract\u2019s award, payments, renewals, performance metrics, and actual impact on oil production and theft, with particular scrutiny on beneficiaries in Bayelsa State.<\/p>\n<p>They also urged President Bola Tinubu to terminate the contract upon completion of the probe and replace it with a transparent, competitive, and accountable framework, preferably involving the Nigerian Navy, local communities under strict oversight, or properly vetted public institutions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Niger Delta deserves genuine security and development, not rented loyalty from men who jump ship politically while holding onto public funds. The Renewed Hope Agenda cannot accommodate characters who treat party membership and national contracts as tools for self-enrichment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cContinuing this deal in its current form rewards betrayal and undermines the very foundations of party discipline and good governance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour Excellency, the youths of the APC in Bayelsa stand ready to support any decisive action you take to clean up this mess. Terminate the contract. Hold opportunists like Joshua MacIver accountable.
