Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The African Democratic Congress, ADC, House of Representatives member, Leke Abejide, has insisted that Nafiu Bala remains the authentic National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, urging the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to recognise him officially.<\/p>\n

Abejide made the remark while speaking to journalists during a protest organised by the Bala-led faction of the party in Abuja on Thursday.<\/p>\n

According to him, Bala was the only member of the party\u2019s National Executive Committee, NEC, who did not resign, contrary to claims by some members of the party.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cNwosu who resigned did so without notice. There was no meeting. This new national chairman they are seeing behind me was the only party National Executive Committee member who did not resign.<\/p>\n

\u201cThough they are forging everything around saying that he resigned but I am aware he did not resign.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe expected INEC to have done the honourable thing by putting his name as the authentic National Chairman.<\/p>\n

\u201cNafiu Bala was the only party executive who did not resign. INEC should do the honourable thing by putting his name as the authentic National Chairman of the ADC, nothing more.\u201d<\/p>\n

The protest began in the early hours of Thursday as supporters of the Bala-led faction stormed the streets of Abuja, calling on opposition leaders former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and former Senate President David Mark to stay away from the ADC.<\/p>\n

The demonstration was led by Bala, who accused the political figures of attempting to hijack the party.<\/p>\n

Bala was joined at the protest by Abejide and other supporters.<\/p>\n

The development comes just 24 hours after another protest led by the David Mark faction of the ADC took place at the INEC office on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Prominent political figures, including Peter Obi, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Atiku Abubakar, Rotimi Amaechi, and David Mark, were present.<\/p>\n
