Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Confederation of African Football, CAF, has explained why the 2026 Women\u2019s Africa Cup of Nations, WAFCON, was postponed.<\/p>\n

In an interview on SuperSport\u2019s Soccer Africa, CAF\u2019s acting Secretary-General, Samson Adamu, admitted it wasn\u2019t an easy call, but the priority was making sure the teams get the best possible environment to play in.<\/p>\n

The WAFCON was supposed to kick off on March 17, this year, but it was moved to July 25 through August 16.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the development, Adamu said, \u201cThe reason we delayed the WAFCON was that there were circumstances beyond us at the time that wouldn\u2019t permit us to have the best competition possible.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlso after having a very successful Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, for the men, It was very important that the WAFCON is organised under the right and perfect conditions for the women.\u201d<\/p>\n
