Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Kano State Police Command says it has recovered two stolen vehicles in separate operations in Tarauni and Kumbotso local government areas.<\/p>\n

In a statement on Sunday, the police spokesperson, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the recoveries were part of ongoing efforts to strengthen intelligence-led and visibility policing across the state.<\/p>\n

He explained that the operations reflect the command\u2019s \u201crenewed commitment to proactive crime prevention, management, and control.\u201d<\/p>\n

The first case involved a Toyota Corolla stolen in Abuja. According to the statement, the car, a 2004 model with registration number DRA 735AA, was taken on April 22 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Wuse.<\/p>\n

Kiyawa said police operatives acted quickly after receiving credible information.<\/p>\n

\u201cOperatives of the Command\u2019s Special Intervention Squad (SIS) swiftly swung into action,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The vehicle was later found in Darmarawa Layout, Naibawa area of Tarauni LGA.<\/p>\n

Police believe the car was left there by a suspected serial car thief who is still on the run.<\/p>\n

The spokesperson added that efforts are ongoing to arrest the suspect.<\/p>\n

In the second case, a Kia Optima belonging to a resident, Musbahu Baba Muhammad, was stolen on April 24 near a mosque along BUK Road.<\/p>\n

The police said officers from Sharada Division began investigations immediately after the incident was reported. With support from members of the Zone 5 Ja\u2019en Vigilante Group, the vehicle was recovered early the next day in Ja\u2019en Quarters.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe stolen vehicle was recovered and is now in safe custody,\u201d Kiyawa said, adding that investigations are ongoing to track down those responsible.<\/p>\n

The Commissioner of Police in Kano, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, praised the officers involved for their professionalism, swift response, and dedication to duty.<\/p>\n

He also thanked members of the vigilante group and the public for providing useful information.<\/p>\n

Kiyawa noted that the success of the operations shows the importance of community policing.<\/p>\n

He said the command remains committed to protecting lives and property and urged residents to stay alert.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Command urges members of the public to remain vigilant and to continue providing useful information on suspicious persons and activities,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Police say efforts are ongoing to arrest all suspects connected to the thefts.<\/p>\n
