Sanda had been standing trial for stabbing to death her husband, Bilyaminu, son of a former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Haliru Bello.<\/p>\n<p>Delivering judgment, Justice Yusuf Halilu, convicted her on circumstantial evidence, NAN reports.<\/p>\n<p>The killing was premeditated, the police said.<\/p>\n<p>The police accused Sanda of stabbing her husband with a broken bottle at about 3:50 a.m. on Nov. 18, 2017<\/p>\n<p>The police also accused Maimuna Aliyu, Sanda\u2019s mother; Aliyu, her brother, and Sadiya Aminu, her housemaid, of tampering with evidence by cleaning the blood and other proofs from the crime scene, but charges were later dropped.<\/p>\n<p>DAILY POST recalls that Justice Yusuf Halilu last week Monday fixed Jan. 27, 2020 for judgment in a case of alleged culpable homicide against Maryam Sanda.<br \/>\nSanda was alleged to have killed her husband, Bilyamin Bello, over allegations of infidelity.<\/p>\n<p>Bello was the nephew of Haliru Bello, a former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).<\/p>\n<p>Justice Yusuf Halilu fixed Jan. 27, 2020 for judgment after listening to the submissions of all the counsels in the matter in their adoption of final written addresses.<\/p>\n<p>Sanda was arraigned by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) in 2017 on a one-count charge of culpable homicide.<\/p>\n<p>She was arraigned alongside Aliyu Sanda, her brother; Maimuna Aliyu, her mother and Sadiya Aminu, her housemaid.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An FCT High Court on Monday sentenced Maryam Sanda to death by hanging.
