{"id":2142,"date":"2019-01-10T20:19:28","date_gmt":"2019-01-10T20:19:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/nigeria\/?p=2142"},"modified":"2019-01-10T20:20:42","modified_gmt":"2019-01-10T20:20:42","slug":"lagos-train-accident-lasema-gives-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/all-news\/lagos-train-accident-lasema-gives-update","title":{"rendered":"Lagos train accident: LASEMA gives update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lagos State Emergency Agency (LASEMA) says efforts are ongoing to save persons trapped in a train accident that occurred around Ashade Ram Market in Agege area.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-13\"><\/div>\n<p>The accident happened around 7am.<\/p>\n<p>According to update released from the agency at 11am, the train moving en route Ebute Metta via Oshodi from Iju with full capacity passengers derailed from its tracks.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-14\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cFurther investigation revealed that the train derailed as a result of faulty tracks at the level crossing which has been reported by LASTMA men in the area and was noted for pending engineering works tonight\u201d, it read.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo life was lost but information gathered at the scene from the bystanders has it that the wounded victims were rushed to nearby hospitals for medical first aid.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEfforts are currently on ground to evacuate the derailed coaches as the NRC crane has been despatched to the scene from Lagos Island.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-15\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cThe combined efforts of the GM LASEMA, LRT, LRU PARAMEDICS, LRU FIRE, LASAMBUS, FRSC, RRS, LASTMA and Nigeria Police are on ground to ensure swift recovery.
