The Bauchi State Government owes a debt of N2.3bn for electricity supply, the Jos Electricity Distribution Company has disclosed.<\/p>\n
The Regional Manager of the company in Bauchi, Auwal Jada, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen on Thursday.<\/p>\n
He said the government did not pay more than 50 per cent of its bills as and when due.<\/p>\n
Jada said that despite the huge unpaid bills owed by both government and residents, the company supplied a minimum of six hours of power in all parts of the state capital per day.<\/p>\n
He advocated the installation of either prepaid or postpaid meters by customers saying that they were more effective and efficient as people were only charged based on their consumption.<\/p>\n
In a reaction, the Bauchi State Government admitted that it owed JEDC the amount of money, blaming the previous administrations for being responsible.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
