Former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (retd) has said that the Igbos have been marginalised in Nigeria\u2019s polity.<\/p>\n

He went on to canvass for the restructuring of the country so as to integrate Igbos into the polity.<\/p>\n

The former head of state, who ended the Nigerian civil war with the slogan \u201cNo Victor, No Vanquished\u201d, spoke at the debate for national unity with the theme: \u201c Federal Character, Restructuring and Rotation of Presidential Power in Nigeria\u201d organised by Igbo Leadership Development Foundation in Abuja.<\/p>\n

He emphasised that the Igbo nation still remains marginalised 50 years after the civil war.<\/p>\n

Gowon, who was represented by a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Dr. Obadiah Mailafia, appealed for urgent steps to be taken to ameliorate the pains of the Igbo people.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
