1. The Senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District, Rose Oko, is dead<\/p>\n
The lawmaker died in the UK after battling an unknown ailment at the age of 63.<\/p>\n
2. The National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) last night confirmed new case of coronavirus in Nigeria.<\/p>\n
NCDC Twitter said four new cases of #COVID19 have been confirmed in Nigeria, with 3 in Lagos State and 1 in FCT.<\/p>\n
3. The Federal Government of Nigeria has directed public servants to work from home in order to stop the spread of coronavirus.<\/p>\n
The directive, which was contained in a memo on Monday by Yemi Esan, Head of Civil Service, urged public servants across the country from level 12 and below were asked to work while at home.<\/p>\n
4. The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, on Monday commenced an indefinite strike.<\/p>\n
ASUU\u2019s President, Biodun Ogunyemi, who made the disclosure while addressing a press conference at the union\u2019s National Secretariat in Abuja, disclosed that Federal Government had failed to address the issues raised by its members, hence the commencement of the strike.<\/p>\n
5. Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has reacted to reports that his son refused to isolate himself upon return.<\/p>\n
Describing the reports as a \u2018false narrative,\u2019 Atiku said his son returned to the country on 17th March via Switzerland from some business engagements in France and Switzerland and isolated himself when he returned to Abuja.<\/p>\n
6. Nigerian government, on Monday, announced the closure of all land borders for four weeks.<\/p>\n
Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation and chairman of Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 announced that weekly federal executive council will be suspended till further notice.<\/p>\n
7. Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, on Monday, placed a ban on religious services, weddings, parties, burial ceremonies and other social gatherings of more than 30 people in the state.<\/p>\n
Makinde, in a state broadcast on the Covid-19 pandemic in the state, said that the decision was taken as part of preventive measures to curb the spread of Coronavirus in the state.<\/p>\n
8. As the number of coronavirus cases increase in Nigeria, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday suspended all activities of the party across the federation.<\/p>\n
The party, in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan, on Monday in Abuja said the decision was to curb the spread of COVID-19 in Nigeria.<\/p>\n
9. Sequel to the spate of the deadly coronavirus case in Nigeria, the Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu-led government in Ondo State has banned political, social and religious gatherings in the state.<\/p>\n
In the same vein, gatherings in beer parlours and clubs across the state has also been banned, while civil servants on grade level 1-12 were also directed to stay at home.<\/p>\n
10. The Nigeria Immigration Service has suspended the processing of passport and migrant e-Registration.<\/p>\n
A statement by Sunday James, the Service Public Relations Officer, on Monday, explained that this was a response to the outbreak and spread of coronavirus.<\/p>\n
