The management of Ilejemeje Local Government Council of Ekiti State, on Monday, described the murder of the leader of its legislative arm, Omotoso Olatunji, as shocking and devastating.<\/p>\n
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Olatunji was shot dead on Sunday night by an unknown gunmen, while the Ekiti State Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr Folorunso Olabode, and one other was abducted.<\/p>\n
They were travelling from Ado-Ekiti to Iye-Ekiti, the country home of Olabode when the gunmen struck.<\/p>\n
The Ilejemeje Council Chairman, Mr Akinola Oladunjoye, while reacting to the development in an interview with NAN, described the councillor as a dedicated, hardworking, diligent, easy going and humble person.<\/p>\n
\u201cOmotoso Olatunji is a peace loving person, very hardworking, quiet and a good farmer, who detests trouble.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe is a loyal and honest person, and overall, his personality is very good.<\/p>\n
\u201cOlatunji will be missed by many people in the local government for his kind gestures and hardworking spirit.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe prayed God to grant his families the fortitude to bear his loss,\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n
The chairman said that the council was awaiting the outcome of the Police investigation on the incident.<\/p>\n
Also reacting, the Chairman of Oye Local Government Council of Ekiti, Mr Foluso Ojo, sympathised with the management of Ilejemeje LGA over the sudden death of Olatunji on Sunday night.<\/p>\n
Ojo described the death of the House Leader as unfortunate.<\/p>\n
\u201cI can\u2019t understand what the killers stand to gain or achieve by the attack, not at this moment that the entire nation is currently battling with the spread of coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have summoned an emergency security meeting with a view to deliberate on adequate security measures for the community to forestall future occurrence,\u2019\u2019 the Ojo told NAN.<\/p>\n
