The Police in Ebonyi says it has arrested a youth gang for allegedly killing a police officer attached to a Chinese mining company in the state.<\/p>\n
DSP Loveth Odah, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, made the disclosure in a statement on Thursday in Abakaliki.<\/p>\n
Odah said that the deceased officer\u2019s AK-47 rifle was also recovered.<\/p>\n
\u201cOn April 25, the Site Manager of Tongyl Mining Company, Mkpumakwuokuko Izzi LGA of Ebonyi, Mr Joel Osaghele, reported that a youth gang from the area attacked them.<\/p>\n
\u201cOsaghele, who was in company of a Chinese national, reported that the gang attacked them alongside three mobile police escorts, as they were moving the company\u2019s property from the site to Abakaliki.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe said that the gang led by one Ikechukwu Okanga, used logs to barricade the road at \u2018four corner junction\u2019 and it took the intervention of the village head, Mr Sunday Nwamini for the company\u2019s vehicles to pass,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The PPRO said that the youths re-grouped and ambushed the company\u2019s vehicles at \u2018Opefia\u2019 junction and attacked the mobile policemen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
