Osun state Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, has pardoned all vehicles impounded during lockdown order in the state.<\/p>\n
This was contained in a public service announcement signed by the Secretary to the state government, Wole Oyebamiji.<\/p>\n
POLITICS NIGERIA recalls that the state earlier imposed stay-at-home order for over a month, in a bid to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n
According to data from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), as of Sunday morning, the country recorded 176 new cases of COVID-19 as the tally of infected people rose to 5,621.<\/p>\n
The breakdown of the 5, 621confirmed cases shows that Osun State has so far reported 42 cases.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is to announce to the public that the Governor of the State of Osun, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola, has pardoned all those whose vehicles (cars, buses, motorcycles, tricycles, trucks, etc.) were impounded for violating the lockdown directives of the State Government which was put in place to curb further spread of COVID-19 in the State,\u201d Mr Oyebamiji announced.<\/p>\n
He also noted that owners of the impounded vehicles are to report to the different Police formations where their vehicles were taken, with proof of ownership, with effect from 12:00 noon on Monday, 18th May 2020 for the release of the said vehicles.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis gesture by the Governor applies only to vehicle owners who violated the State Government\u2019s directives since the lockdown began till date.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to him, Governor Oyetola, however, warned that anyone caught committing infractions or violation of the lockdown guidelines henceforth will face the full force of the law.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe State Government is using this medium to caution its citizens and residents to ensure that they observe all government\u2019s regulations and guidelines put in place to protect the State in the face of the pandemic,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
