Africa Press-Nigeria:<\/p>\n

The World Health Organization, WHO, regional office for Africa in Brazzaville, Congo, says the number of coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Africa has risen to over 86,000 in the past 24 hours.<\/p>\n

The UN health agency gave the update on its official Twitter account on Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n

According to the tweet, COVID-19 has killed 2,700 people on the continent, while 33,000 people have recovered from the virus.<\/p>\n

\u201cOver 86,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases on the African continent \u2013 with more than 33,000 recoveries & 2,700 deaths,\u201d It said.<\/p>\n

The WHO COVID-19 dashboard showed that Egypt has 630 reported deaths, the highest on the continent, followed by Algeria with 555 deaths and South Africa with 286 deaths.<\/p>\n

Other countries are Morocco (192 deaths), Nigeria (191) deaths, Cameroon (140 deaths), and Sudan (105 deaths).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
