{"id":26141,"date":"2020-06-12T18:54:02","date_gmt":"2020-06-12T18:54:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/nigeria\/?p=26141"},"modified":"2020-06-12T18:54:02","modified_gmt":"2020-06-12T18:54:02","slug":"nlc-inaugurates-body-to-prevent-workers-sacking-pay-cut","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/all-news\/nlc-inaugurates-body-to-prevent-workers-sacking-pay-cut","title":{"rendered":"NLC inaugurates body to prevent workers\u2019 sacking, pay cut"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Africa Press-Nigeria:<\/p>\n<p>THE Nigeria Labour Congress, Anambra State chapter, has inaugurated a 12-man Labour\/Civil Society Situation Room to protect workers\u2019 jobs and wages amidst the COVID-19 economic threat.<\/p>\n<p>Inaugurating the body at the workers\u2019 secretariat in Awka, the Anambra State capital, on Thursday, the NLC Chairman in the state, Jerry Nnubia, said the body would help to engage the government on how best to gradually and systematically open up the economy for business and production.<\/p>\n<p>Nnubia said, \u201cThe Situation Room will serve as an engine room for information dissemination and sensitisation of workers and citizens to COVID-19 reality, prevalence, prevention and containment measures.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo protect jobs, wages and means of livelihood of Nigerians and serve as a think-tank to liaise and advise government on the strategy going forward.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo embark on advocacy and social dialogue with government and private sector employers to promote public health and employment\/income protection for workers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt will also partner with all relevant stakeholders in the state in order to enable it to achieve its set objectives.<\/p>\n<p>He said the body would maintain a feedback relationship between workers, workers\u2019 organisations, government and employers in the private sector.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa Press-Nigeria: THE Nigeria Labour Congress, Anambra State chapter, has inaugurated a 12-man Labour\/Civil Society Situation Room to protect workers\u2019 jobs and wages amidst the COVID-19 economic threat.
