The Rivers State Government has said that 22 doctors and 60 other health workers have tested positive for the deadly coronavirus disease in the state.<\/p>\n

The state\u2019s chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, chairperson, Dr. Obelebra Adebiyi, made this known to newsmen in Port Harcourt on Friday.<\/p>\n

Adebiyi also appealed to the government to have a review of the hazard allowances paid to doctors employed by the state government, due to the challenges faced by the health workers in the state.<\/p>\n

According to her, the health workers fighting the virus lacked adequate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).<\/p>\n

She said \u201cThe number of COVID-19 cases in the state increased from 0, in less than 8 weeks, to about 450 confirmed cases with 21 deaths.<\/p>\n
