President, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Reverend Samson Ayokunle, yesterday commended President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem President of the Court of Appeal.<\/p>\n

He said President Buhari deserved commendation for resisting pressures by some forces not to send her name to the Senate for confirmation. Ayokunle pointed out that Dongban-Mensem\u2019s appointment showed that President Buhari was becoming sensitive to the aspiration and yearnings of the people for a country where everyone was given a sense of belonging irrespective of religious, political and ethnic affiliations.<\/p>\n

In a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Pastor Adebayo Oladeji, the CAN President noted that the association was not unaware of plots to deny Dongban-Mensem of the office despite her reputation and credentials, but the forces were frustrated with the President\u2019s resolve to ensure that justice and fairness prevailed over selfish considerations.<\/p>\n

\u201cCAN, therefore, felicitates with Dongban-Mensem over her elevation and wishes her successful tenure in her service to the nation and prays God to grant her wisdom, knowledge, understanding, courage, commitment, good health and sound mind to serve and finish strong and well.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will not cease to pray for the peace, unity and stability of the country. We will also continue to pray for President Buhari and our leaders at the national, state and council levels for God\u2019s guidance, wisdom and protection,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
