{"id":27563,"date":"2020-07-19T14:37:45","date_gmt":"2020-07-19T14:37:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/nigeria\/?p=27563"},"modified":"2020-07-19T14:37:45","modified_gmt":"2020-07-19T14:37:45","slug":"cross-river-north-senatorial-election-youths-ban-apc-aspirant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/all-news\/cross-river-north-senatorial-election-youths-ban-apc-aspirant","title":{"rendered":"Cross River North Senatorial election: Youths ban APC aspirant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Africa Press-Nigeria:<\/p>\n<p>Youths in Bekwarra Local Government Area of Cross River State have banned a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and aspirant for the Cross River North Senatorial election, Joe Agi, from campaigning in the Local Government Area (Bekwarra).<\/p>\n<p>The youths in a statement issued by Agaji Adie Ntamu for Young Bekwarra leader\u2019s forum said that the attention of Bekwarra people have been drawn to a provocative video by Joe Agi (SAN) on one of the most unfortunate Bekwarra-Ishiborri communal crisis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the video, Agi on his consultation visit to a few members of APC at Ishiborri community in Ogoja ran out of ideas and in his desperation to impress his already disappointed people recalled the very unfortunate Ugboro- Ishiborri communal clash which took place in 1995, exactly 25 years ago which was a very bloody intercommunal dispute where many lives were lost with property worth millions of Naira destroyed. Some families are still disenchanted till the present day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe pain and the agony of this dreaded communal mishap is very fresh. The economic hardship is still being felt by both affected communities. The decision of Joe Agi to anchor his political point on such ugly incident with the intent to malign the integrity of the good people of Bekwarra is very embarrassing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhether Agi was paid a fortune to defend the Ishiborri people in the purported land dispute, is he expected to bring it up after 25 years of such an ugly incident where lots of people are still struggling to heal and live in peace? Maybe, this explains the quality of leadership he intends to bring to Northern Cross River, if he is ever considered at all.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-center code-block-2\">\n<div align=\"center\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cHis decision to insight another genocide, where he can quickly rush to court and exploit the people of their hard earnings at the expense of their lives has failed woefully.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe wish to inform him that our well respected legal icon is too highly placed and shouldn\u2019t be used as political bait by someone with no political track records. Lest he forgets, Chief K.G Agabi has served this nation as a former minister of Justice and one of the unifying personalities in Cross River and shouldn\u2019t be dragged into any politics of hate and division.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBekwarra and indeed the world should by Agi\u2019s declaration of always being an Ishiborri man which explains why he took the Bekwarra people to High Court and supreme courts and won them, know that he does not regard Bekwarra and does not have their interests in his scheme of things.
