Africa Press-Nigeria:<\/p>\n

1. The Federal Government on Thursday disclosed that all states, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) would receive N100 million each to boost their response against coronavirus.<\/p>\n

The Minister of Health, Osagie Enahire during Thursday\u2019s Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, disclosed that a huge amount would come from the Regional Diseases Surveillance Enhancement (REDISSE) Project.<\/p>\n

2. Worried by the recent incessant killings in parts of Southern Kaduna, thousands of women on Thursday took to the streets unclad, to register their anger over alleged attempts to eliminate them from their ancestral lands.<\/p>\n

Some of the protesting women wore black cloths with patches of black all over their bodies in a protest that terminated at the palace of Atak Njei, Agwamatyap Palace (the Paramount ruler of Atyap) in Zangon Kataf local government area of Kaduna state.<\/p>\n

3. A US court has dismissed a fraud case against a Nigerian accused of cyber-crime, Olalekan Ponle, popularly known as Mr. Woodberry.<\/p>\n

Ponle, who was accused of multi-million dollar wire fraud, was arrested alongside his associate, Ramon Abbas popularly known as Hushpuppi on June 10 by a combined team of Dubai police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI for multiple fraud charges<\/p>\n

4. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has hailed the international community for their support towards the successful execution of the National Economic Sustainability Plan (NESP).<\/p>\n

He spoke on Thursday at a virtual meeting with representatives of the international community from the United States (US), the European Union (EU), United Kingdom (UK), agencies of the United Nations (UN), World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).<\/p>\n

5. The Lagos State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development has sealed 43 buildings on Airport Road.<\/p>\n

The Commissioner of the ministry , Dr Idris Salako, while supervising the exercise, said the affected buildings including 13 banks and 13 hotels, were either built without planning permits or conformity to approval orders.<\/p>\n

6. The Nigerian Government, on Thursday, said it was considering asking students to sit for the General Certificate Examination, GCE, should it fail to meet up with the West African Examination Council, WAEC\u2019s timetabe for the 2020 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination.<\/p>\n

The Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba, who made this disclosure during the bi-weekly press briefing of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, disclosed further that negotiations were already on to move local language subjects such as Ibo, Yoruba and Hausa as offered in Nigeria, behind from their usual spots as first written subjects.<\/p>\n

7. The Federal Government on Thursday warned that the gathering of crowds in places of worship, amid Coronavirus pandemic still poses a danger to citizens.<\/p>\n

Osagie Ehanire, Minister of Health, who spoke during the daily briefing of the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19 in Abuja, said crowds in worship centres pose serious threats in the transmission of COVID-19 in Nigeria.<\/p>\n

8. The Deputy Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Bako Kasim Alfa, has resigned.<\/p>\n

Alfa made the announcement during the plenary session on Thursday.<\/p>\n

9. Senator Godswill Akpabio, the Minister for Niger Delta Affairs, on Thursday, denied ever accusing members of the National Assembly of collecting 60 percent of the contracts awarded by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).<\/p>\n

In a letter read on the floor of the House of Representatives during plenary by the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, the former lawmaker said the only reference he made to 60 percent during his presentation before the NDDC committee a few days ago was in response to a question by a member of the committee.<\/p>\n

10. The remains of Nigeria\u2019s flying officer, Tolulope Arotile, were on Thursday committed to mother in Abuja.<\/p>\n
