{"id":27984,"date":"2020-07-29T14:46:14","date_gmt":"2020-07-29T14:46:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/nigeria\/?p=27984"},"modified":"2020-07-29T14:46:14","modified_gmt":"2020-07-29T14:46:14","slug":"amaechi-raises-concern-over-foreign-loans-probe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/all-news\/amaechi-raises-concern-over-foreign-loans-probe","title":{"rendered":"Amaechi raises concern over foreign loans probe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Africa Press-Nigeria:<\/p>\n<p>The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has observed that the investigation of loans taken by the Federal Government could send the wrong signal to the lenders.<\/p>\n<p>Amaechi made the observation at an investigative hearing organised by the House of Representatives Committee on Treaties, Protocols and Agreements in Abuja, NAN reports.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the investigation could cause foreign partners to withdraw such loan facilities which have a negative effect on Nigeria\u2019s infrastructural development.<\/p>\n<p>The minister said that he has raised concerns over the ongoing investigation with the Speaker of the House, Rep. Femi Gbajabimila.<\/p>\n<p>Amaechi explained that the hearing could stop the loan facility the Federal Government \u201dis seeking for the completion of the Lagos-Ibadan and Kano rail projects\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>He, however, recommended that the hearing should be shifted to December when the loan facility would have been acquired.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa Press-Nigeria: The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has observed that the investigation of loans taken by the Federal Government could send the wrong signal to the lenders.
