The All Progressives Congress, Akwa Ibom State chapter has appointed Ita Udosen, the Deputy State Chairman as the Acting Chairman of the party in the state<\/p>\n
The appointment was due to the death of the party\u2019s chairman, late Ini Okopido on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
The APC Publicity Secretary in the State, Nkereuwem Enyongekere, in a statement on Thursday, said the resolution to fill up the vacant position was taken today at the party\u2019s secretariat during an emergency session by the State Working Committee.<\/p>\n
Enyongekere, who said the appointment takes effect from Thursday, August 6, 2020, noted that the SWC drew their powers from Article14.2 Section iii of the party\u2019s constitution.<\/p>\n
The statement reads, \u201cFollowing the sudden, sad and devastating transition of our Chairman, Late Hon. Ini Titus Okopido yesterday, the State Working Committee (SWC) of our Party met today in an emergency session at the State Party Secretariat and resolved as follows:<\/p>\n
\u201cThat based on Article14.2 Section iii of the Party\u2019s Constitution, the Deputy Chairman of the Party, Dr. Ita Udosen should hereby assume the position of the Acting Chairman henceforth.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith the said resolution of the SWC today, Dr. Ita Udosen, the State Deputy Chairman is hereby appointed the Acting State Chairman effective Thursday, August 6, 2020.\u201d<\/p>\n
