{"id":28370,"date":"2020-08-07T15:12:29","date_gmt":"2020-08-07T15:12:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/nigeria\/?p=28370"},"modified":"2020-08-07T15:12:29","modified_gmt":"2020-08-07T15:12:29","slug":"court-convicts-naira-marley","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/all-news\/court-convicts-naira-marley","title":{"rendered":"Court convicts Naira Marley"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Africa Press-Nigeria:<\/p>\n<p>An Abuja Mobile Court on Friday convicted Azeez Fashola aka Naira Marley.<\/p>\n<p>Fasola was charged with four counts, NAN reports.<\/p>\n<p>These were violation of interstate travel ban, non-use of face mask, breaking of social distancing order and attending a concert despite COVID-19 restriction order.<\/p>\n<p>Naira Marley was fined N200,000.<\/p>\n<p>The Magistrate, Idayat Akanni, set the fine after the musician pleaded guilty.<\/p>\n<p>His counsel, Mohammed Yunusa, said his client was made to believe that the organisers of the concert had procured all the approval from the government.<\/p>\n<p>Chief State Counsel, Udeme Umana, revealed that the court mandated Naira Marley to publish a public apology to the federal government in a national daily.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis will serve as a deterrent to other Nigerians\u201d, Umana stated.<\/p>\n<p>The concert was held at the Jabi Lake Mall on June 13.<\/p>\n<p>It was organized by Play Network Africa, Traffic Bar, El\u2019Carnival, and sponsored by Glenfiddich.<\/p>\n<p>Following public outrage, the FCT Administration shut down the mall.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-center code-block-2\">\n<div align=\"center\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The Federal Government also\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dailypost.ng\/2020\/06\/15\/breaking-fg-suspends-airline-for-flying-naira-marley-to-abuja\/\">stopped the operation of ExecuJet<\/a>, the airline whose plane flew Naira Marley and others.<\/p>\n<p>The ban was, however,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dailypost.ng\/2020\/07\/27\/breaking-fg-lifts-ban-on-airline-that-flew-naira-marley-to-abuja\/\">lifted late July.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa Press-Nigeria: An Abuja Mobile Court on Friday convicted Azeez Fashola aka Naira Marley.
