{"id":28422,"date":"2020-08-08T15:38:12","date_gmt":"2020-08-08T15:38:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/nigeria\/?p=28422"},"modified":"2020-08-08T15:38:12","modified_gmt":"2020-08-08T15:38:12","slug":"obaseki-vs-ize-iyamu-edo-has-become-syria-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/all-news\/obaseki-vs-ize-iyamu-edo-has-become-syria-2","title":{"rendered":"Obaseki vs Ize-Iyamu \u2013 Edo has become Syria"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Africa Press-Nigeria:<\/p>\n<p>Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna lawmaker has likened the political crisis in Edo State to that of \u2018Syria\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The crisis heightened on Thursday when security personnel invaded the State House of Assembly.<\/p>\n<p>The Speaker, Frank Okiye and the Deputy Speaker of the State Assembly were also impeached on the same day.<\/p>\n<p>This has led to camps of the People\u2019s Democratic Party, PDP, and All Progressives Congress, APC, throwing jabs, accusations and counter accusations at each other.<\/p>\n<p>Just last night, Bola Tinubu, the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress APC, said Governor Godwin Obaseki will be voted out come September 19 because of his \u201cwoeful leadership\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the National leader, Obaseki who promised to be the Governor of all the people of the State has denied 2\/3 of the people of his state their right to representation in the state\u2019s only legislative chamber.<\/p>\n<p>Also, Governor Umar Ganduje described Obaseki as a woeful failure and a liability to his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.<\/p>\n<p>Obaseki had fired back at Ganduje saying he was in no position to assess his performance because he has \u201cbaggage of the viral video of him stuffing dollars collected from contractors\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa Press-Nigeria: Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna lawmaker has likened the political crisis in Edo State to that of \u2018Syria\u2019 The crisis heightened on Thursday when security personnel invaded the State House of Assembly.
