{"id":28666,"date":"2020-08-13T14:56:13","date_gmt":"2020-08-13T14:56:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/nigeria\/?p=28666"},"modified":"2020-08-13T14:56:13","modified_gmt":"2020-08-13T14:56:13","slug":"falana-seeks-prosecution-of-motorcyclist-over-alleged-rape-in-ekiti","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/all-news\/falana-seeks-prosecution-of-motorcyclist-over-alleged-rape-in-ekiti","title":{"rendered":"Falana seeks prosecution of motorcyclist over alleged rape in Ekiti"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Africa Press-Nigeria:<\/p>\n<p>A non-governmental organization, Women Empowerment and Legal Aid, (WELA) has appealed to police authorities in Ekiti State to act appropriately in the rape case involving one of its female clients.<\/p>\n<p>The Chairperson of the organisation, Barrister Funmi Falana, in a letter to the state Commission of Police, Mr Tunde Mobayo said the matter must be properly investigated.<\/p>\n<p>Falana in the letter entitled: Complaint On Rape, Assault and Inhuman Treatment On Miss Adesina, signed by Taiwo Omidoyin, also demanded the prosecution of the perpetrator of the inhuman act.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe received a complaint in our office from the family members of Miss Adesina, (herein after referred to as our client), a 16-year-old girl, who is a victim of rape, assault and inhuman treatment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are informed that the matter has now been transferred to the JWC unit of your command and the perpetrator already detained therein while our client is currently receiving medical care in the hospital.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile we commend the efforts of the police so far in coming to the aid of our client, we passionately appeal to you (CP) to use your good office to ensure proper investigation of the matter, diligent prosecution and making the perpetrator face the full wrath of the law.
