The Imo State Police Command has arrested 15 people over the attack on the convoy of Governor Hope Uzodimma.<\/p>\n
The incident occurred on Monday.<\/p>\n
Uzodinma was on his way to the 34 Artillery Brigade at Obinze when his convoy was attacked.<\/p>\n
Staff of Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission ISOPADEC accosted him while protesting their three months salary arrears.<\/p>\n
Commissioner of Police, Isaac Akinmoyede, said the suspects claimed they were ISOPADEC employees.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey attacked the vehicles in the convoy with a locally made pistol and machetes. Windscreens of some of the vehicles were smashed\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n
The police boss gave the actual location as the Concord area of New Owerri.<\/p>\n
Akinmoyede disclosed that the suspects are with the Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.<\/p>\n
