{"id":28876,"date":"2020-08-18T16:49:04","date_gmt":"2020-08-18T16:49:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/nigeria\/?p=28876"},"modified":"2020-08-18T16:49:04","modified_gmt":"2020-08-18T16:49:04","slug":"popular-socialite-mompha-sues-efcc-over-fresh-arrest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/economy\/popular-socialite-mompha-sues-efcc-over-fresh-arrest","title":{"rendered":"Popular Socialite, Mompha sues EFCC over fresh arrest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Africa Press-Nigeria:<\/p>\n<p>Popular socialite, Ismaila Mustapha a.k.a Mompha has sued the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC for N5m over his \u201cunlawful re-arrest and detention.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mompha, who is facing money laundering charges before the Federal High Court made the known in a suit filed by his lawyer, Mr Gboyega Oyewole (SAN), on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that the Instagram big boy was re-arrested last Friday when he went to the EFCC office in Ikoyi, Lagos to reclaim some items seized from him by the commission last year.<\/p>\n<p>Mompha prayed the court to declare that his re-arrest and detention by the EFCC was unjustifiable and unlawful. He said his client had been reporting at the EFCC office fortnightly without defaulting.<\/p>\n<p>He is equally urging the court to declare that the continued seizure of the items violated his right to own property under Section 44 of the constitution.
