Nigeria international Emmanuel Dennis says playing football matches without supporters is really stinking at his Belgian club.<\/p>\n
The forward grabbed an assist as his team, Club Brugge recorded a 2-1 victory over Genk in a Belgian First Division A game over the weekend.<\/p>\n
Matches are being played behind closed doors in the First Division A in order to curb the spread of the coronavirus.<\/p>\n
Dennis, who turned out for Brugge in last season\u2019s UEFA Champions League, reflected on the team\u2019s performance against Genk.<\/p>\n
\u201cClearly I\u2019m happy that we grabbed the three points,\u201d Dennis told the club website.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith all the negative criticism we have been given in the past week, we were extra motivated to claim the full points. And we succeeded, so you can only be happy about that.<\/p>\n
\u201cAlso with the fact that we managed to really bring pain to Genk, particularly in the first half. We really should have scored more than once, I believe,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
\u201cFortunately Hans was really well-positioned to head in one of my crosses from the wing, offering us a 1-0 lead as we headed for the dressing room.\u201d<\/p>\n
Dennis came close to scoring his first league goal of the 2020\/21 season in what was his second match.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s right, I came inches close to tapping in at 0-2, but in all honesty, that cross was really hard which was probably why I came so close,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe now need to bring that same energy to our next home game. Let\u2019s hope we can be cheered on by a couple of thousand fans, we really do miss them. Football without supporters, it really stinks, man.\u201d<\/p>\n
Dennis, 22, has two caps for Nigeria having made his international debut against Ukraine last year.<\/p>\n
