{"id":3003,"date":"2019-01-21T19:23:03","date_gmt":"2019-01-21T19:23:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/nigeria\/?p=3003"},"modified":"2019-01-21T19:23:03","modified_gmt":"2019-01-21T19:23:03","slug":"four-die-in-akwa-ibom-gas-explosion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/all-news\/four-die-in-akwa-ibom-gas-explosion","title":{"rendered":"Four die in Akwa Ibom gas explosion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has confirmed the death of four persons due to a fire incident at Ede Obuk area of the state.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-2\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1524595905268-4\" data-google-query-id=\"CIapzKXM_98CFfStcQodESAHuQ\">\n<p>The victims are: Daniel Usoro, Anthony Anthony, Enobong Sampson and Akpabio John.<\/p>\n<p>The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Odiko MacDon, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-3\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1524595905268-5\" data-google-query-id=\"CIepzKXM_98CFfStcQodESAHuQ\">\n<p>He said that investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the accident and to prevent such from occurring again in the state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can confirm the unfortunate incident, as the matter had been reported to the station.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn fact, the Director of the company is currently receiving treatment in an unknown hospital in the State.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-4\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1524595905268-6\" data-google-query-id=\"CIipzKXM_98CFfStcQodESAHuQ\">\n<p>\u201cThe Commissioner of Police, Mr Musa Kimo had commiserated also with the families of the deceased.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are calling for safety measures to prevent such incidents from happening again.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHowever, we are asking that there should be more safety checks to ensure that similar occurrence does not happen again.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMeanwhile, we are also interested in knowing how and why the accident happened,\u201d MacDon said.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-20\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has confirmed the death of four persons due to a fire incident at Ede Obuk area of the state.
