{"id":30378,"date":"2020-09-25T17:36:31","date_gmt":"2020-09-25T17:36:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/nigeria\/?p=30378"},"modified":"2020-09-25T17:36:31","modified_gmt":"2020-09-25T17:36:31","slug":"sanwo-olu-flags-off-377-roads-power-projects-in-lagos-wards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/all-news\/sanwo-olu-flags-off-377-roads-power-projects-in-lagos-wards","title":{"rendered":"Sanwo-Olu flags-off 377 roads, power projects in Lagos wards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Africa Press-Nigeria:<\/p>\n<p>Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has flagged off 377 projects across all the wards in the state to address specific challenges at the grassroots level.<\/p>\n<p>The projects will lead to the construction of over 250 roads and installation of 23 power projects.<\/p>\n<p>The flag-off ceremony took place at the Adeyemi Bero Hall, Alausa, Ikeja.<\/p>\n<p>Sanwo-Olu said his government initiated the interventions in response to requests by the various communities to address specific challenges.<\/p>\n<p>He added execution of the projects would change the narrative about what grassroots development and Government\u2019s responsibilities are all about.<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201cThe state-wide 377 ward projects being launched today are state intervention projects in grassroots development.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe projects are conceived in response to requests by the various communities across the State to address specific challenges.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese projects are not universal; they are diverse, reflecting the needs of each ward across the state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe implementation of the projects will commence immediately after this official flag-off, as contractors have been fully mobilized to move to site.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sanwo-Olu said the process of identifying the needs and the design of the projects was in line with the concept of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and participatory governance in which the people were considered as key stakeholders.<\/p>\n<p>The Governor described grassroots as \u201cthe bedrock of development,\u201d stressing the projects were strategic in promoting the wellbeing of the people across communities.<\/p>\n<p>He said his administration would continue to give residents a voice on issues that affect them.<\/p>\n<p>Chairman of the Projects\u2019 Implementation Committee and the Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, said all contractors would be mobilised to sites next Monday, noting the intervention was in demonstration of the Governor\u2019s campaign promise to run an inclusive government.<\/p>\n<div class=\"addtoany_share_save_container addtoany_content addtoany_content_bottom\">\n<div class=\"a2a_kit a2a_kit_size_32 addtoany_list\" data-a2a-url=\"https:\/\/thenationonlineng.net\/sanwo-olu-flags-off-377-roads-power-projects-in-lagos-wards\/\" data-a2a-title=\"Sanwo-Olu flags-off 377 roads, power projects in Lagos wards\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa Press-Nigeria: Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has flagged off 377 projects across all the wards in the state to address specific challenges at the grassroots level.
