{"id":30420,"date":"2020-09-26T17:27:12","date_gmt":"2020-09-26T17:27:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/nigeria\/?p=30420"},"modified":"2020-09-26T17:27:12","modified_gmt":"2020-09-26T17:27:12","slug":"anambra-lawmakers-wade-into-govt-community-land-feud","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/all-news\/anambra-lawmakers-wade-into-govt-community-land-feud","title":{"rendered":"Anambra lawmakers wade into govt, community land feud"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Africa Press-Nigeria:<\/p>\n<p>Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Public Petitions has expressed worry over impending crises occasioned by land dispute between Ministry of Lands and people of Okpuno in Awka North Local Government Area of the state.<\/p>\n<div class=\"jeg_ad jeg_ad_article jnews_content_inline_2_ads  \">\n<div class=\"ads-wrapper align-center \">\n<div class=\"ads_code\">\n<p>The committee raised the concern when both parties appeared before it following a petition by the Counsel to the petitioners, Mike Ikegbunam.<\/p>\n<p>Also at the meeting was former Surveryor General, Ministry of Lands, Surv. Ifeanyi Ajoku who provided necessary explanations as regards the said land in dispute.<\/p>\n<p>Chairman of the committee, Hon. Emeka Aforka while receiving copies of survey plan of the land conflict and the gazette, directed both parties to maintain peace over the matter pending its resolution.<\/p>\n<p>He also urged them to submit all necessary documents relating to the land to the committee, assuring its amicable settlement within its legislative powers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe urge the Commissioner for Lands, Mr. Burnaventure Enemali to locate the plan number AWK\/47 of 3rd May 1995 as contained in the state gazette to enable the committee determine the true positions of issues under contention as well as do justice to the matter,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Reacting, Enemali expressed confidence over the committee\u2019s capacity to addressing the matter, just as the community\u2019s Counsel, Ikegbunam expressed satisfaction with the committee\u2019s approach to the case.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa Press-Nigeria: Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Public Petitions has expressed worry over impending crises occasioned by land dispute between Ministry of Lands and people of Okpuno in Awka North Local Government Area of the state.
