1. The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has set up a new unit to replace the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).<\/p>\n

The Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team will \u201cfill the gaps\u201d arising from the dissolution of SARS.<\/p>\n

2. The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has disclosed details of his meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Sanwo-Olu said he presented the demands of protesters to the president, adding that Buhari restated his commitment to a holistic reform of the Nigeria Police Force.<\/p>\n

3. The United Nations (UN) on Tuesday appealed to End SARS protesters to remain peaceful.<\/p>\n

Edward Kallon, UN Resident Coordinator in Nigeria, who made the appeal via his Twitter account, reiterated the support of the world body for Nigeria\u2019s solidity.<\/p>\n

3. Former President Goodluck Jonathan has expressed sadness over the death of End SARS protesters.<\/p>\n

He told the Police to exercise caution while dealing with demonstrators, insisting that no Nigerian\u2019s blood needs to be spilled or life lost during a peaceful protest.<\/p>\n

4. A former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, has reacted to the formation of a new unit to replace the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS.<\/p>\n

Reacting to the development, Omokri insisted that SWAT will be like when NEPA changed to PHCN.<\/p>\n

5. Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu has been issued his certificate of return.<\/p>\n

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, presented the certificate to Akeredolu, the Deputy Governor-elect, Lucky Ayedatiwa, on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

6. The Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, has warned that the ongoing End SARS protests may consume Nigeria.<\/p>\n

Adams said \u201cthere are signals\u201d of a national crisis, and advised authorities to properly manage the situation.<\/p>\n

7. Four girls have drowned in a river at Kafin-Doki-Yamma village in Gwaram local Government area of Jigawa State.<\/p>\n

Police spokesman in Jigawa State, SP Abdu Jinjiri confirmed the incident to DAILY POST in Dutse, the capital of the State.<\/p>\n

8. The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has ordered all personnel of the defunct SARS to report at the Force Headquarters, Abuja for debriefing, psychological and medical examination.<\/p>\n

The Policee officers are expected to undergo this process as a prelude to further training and reorientation before being redeployed into mainstream policing duties.<\/p>\n

9. President Muhammadu Buhari has sought Senate\u2019s confirmation of Commissioners of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).<\/p>\n

Those to be confirmed are Prof. Muhaamad Sani from Katsina State, Lauretta Onochie from Delta State, Kunle Cornelius Ajayi from Ekiti State and Seidu Ahmad from Jigawa State.<\/p>\n

10. Indications emerged Tuesday night that the Federal Government may adopt the University Transparency Account System (UTAS), a payment platform developed by ASUU in preference to IPPIS.<\/p>\n

Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige told journalists after about two and half hours closed door meeting with the Senate leadership on Tuesday, that alternative platform presented by ASUU is home grown and worth given thorough assessment test.<\/p>\n
